Getting the hang of walking…

Posted June 21st, 2009 by Lori & Rebecca

Marble’s 3 babies born May 21 are now walking pretty well. Spots was the first one to figure out how to get out of the box…followed quickly by Gigi. It took the littlest, Speck, a bit longer to figure it out, but they are now running all over downstairs. Still haven’t mastered jumping or climbing yet, but this is really the adorable stage when they are just fun to watch.

We have been giving them regular bottles (KMR – Kitty milk) as Marbles doesn’t produce a lot of milk anymore, but they are getting their teeth now and want to chew on the bottle rather than suck on it. Of course this ends up getting milk all over us. :-( They should be drinking water soon so we will be able to give them bowls of milk until they are ready to eat solid food – it won’t be long with their teeth coming in fast!

They scream a lot and follow me when I’m in the family room. Haven’t come all the way to the office yet, but that is coming soon too I’m sure. They are starting to respond to their names and come when I call them or tap my foot on the floor. Really adorable!

I was just sitting in the chair in the family room trying to get them to suck on the bottle and they were climbing all over me. Little claws hurt, but it’s soooo adorable. If you are ever having a bad day, just let a little kitten crawl on you for a bit!

Georgie is starting to leave the box with her 5 kittens now and then. Their eyes are just starting to open. This is her first litter and she has been staying very close to them hissing at the other cats when they come near. For some reason, she has always loved the downstairs bathroom running in to see us when ever we went in. So after I dug her and the babies out from behind my shipping desk where she had them, we put them in a box in the bathroom and she is happy as can be in there. It’s nice and quiet. The first few days she never left the room, but now she is venturing out for short periods in the family room to eat and drink.
