Adoptable Cats - For Free/Small Fee

We have decided to put a couple of our adult cats up for adoption. We hate to do it, but we are just starting to get too many cats and are getting some personality conflicts. These cats are free to a good home, but like all our babies, we screen perspective parents.

Marbles - A gorgeous female Persian, Marbles was a show kitty living her life in a cage until Rebecca adopted her 10 years ago. Marbles is nearly 14 years old now and we didn’t originally think she would get pregnant when we got Ramses (we had a male Persian for 8 years prior to that who passed on and they never had kittens), but she surprised us with 3 litters of Ragapers (ragamuffin/persian) kittens. However, she really is too old to be a mother and is not producing as much milk as she used to and try as we might, we cannot keep her and Ramses apart enough to prevent it! As a Persian, she is a high risk for surgery so we decided it would be best for her to find a wonderful new home.

Marbles loves to be petted and brushed, but is a bit shy around other cats and dogs and children and would do best we think in a 1 person/1 animal household. She is not keen on being held (unless she decides to sit on you), but is very sweet and loving. She tolerates being picked up and held - briefly! Watch out for claws if you hold her too long!

She is small, considered a miniature Persian as she is under 8 pounds and is in very good health. She has the very smooshed Persian face and needs her face washed every few weeks to clean the ridges under her eyes. She is a rather rare dilute calico with mottled shades of gray, peach and white with fur that is very fine and prone to knotting if not brushed regularly - she will let you brush her for HOURS though short swipes around the belly is best. She does shed so would not do well with anyone prone to allergies. She has lovely gold eyes. She can get a bit of an attitude - especially when she is in heat and doesn’t want to be bothered, but is generally a sweetheart.

She has an almost inaudible meow - when she wants some attention, she will come over and raise a paw at you with a very low, squeaky “meow”.

Kali - a beautiful Calico born from Marbles and her previous mate Christmas Day 2001, Kali is fixed but getting a bit aggressive with our males trying to rule the house, so we’ve decided it would be best to find her a new home. She and Marbles were actually the only babies before we got the dogs even, and she never has been happy with us with all the additions to the house.

She has beautiful calico markings in tan, brown, white and gray and is BIG - her daddy was part Maine Coon and she is nearly 10 lbs.

She is affectionate, especially if she is by herself - she tends to get antsy with the other cats and dogs around, so probably would do best in a home where she gets to be the queen. She loves to be brushed and loves to play when no one is watching! She used to love chasing things you throw and probably will again when there are no other cats getting in the way of HER toy!

She is not fond of being picked up though will crawl onto your lap when it is her idea and used to sleep with me when it was just her and Marbles in the house, so with less animals around, we think she will be more and more affectionate. She tends to find a quiet spot off by herself during the day away from the distracting kittens. We do not recommend her for households with small children as she will hiss and use her claws if annoyed.

She is in great health and is a very stunning cat with very beautiful markings. She would be a great cat for a working single person as she would be happy at home alone during the day, and happy to see you when you got home.
